Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an Associate Industrial Hygienist to be based in our Aiken, SC location.
Recognizes, eliminates, evaluates and controls occupational and environmental factors or stresses arising from the workplace or facility that may cause sickness, impaired health or well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers or citizens of the community. Coordinates the monitoring of all workplace environments by analyzing work operations and processes, materials, equipment, and work habits of employees; measures the magnitude of exposure to workers of all environmental hazards by selecting or devising methods and instrumentation suitable for such measurements; and presents specific conclusions and recommendations to appropriate management groups. Prepares rules, standards, and procedures as necessary to promote the healthful conduct of all work practices and the prevention of hazardous or nuisance exposure to the surrounding community. Assists supervision in educating employees on practices, precautions, and procedures established. Reviews present and proposed standards and surveys new installations. Audits programs and conditions at all facilities; provides written reports of findings with recommendations for improvement (where needed); and follows up on implementation.
Takes necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
Accepts delegated technical responsibility for a limited scope of an Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program.
Performs conventional practices of IH by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental factors or stresses in the workplace.
Supports Industrial Hygienists performing related phases of the program.
Assists in study, development, testing and analysis of designs, processes, and procedures relating to a limited scope of the group's function.
Performs occupational exposure assessments of conventional work exposures and conducts exposure monitoring strategies as assigned.
Organizes and accepts responsibility for the accuracy of limited technical analyses and evaluation of results using conventional IH techniques and procedures.
Makes scientific IH calculations.
Assists in the preparation of technical reports.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Occupational Health or related physical or biological science; or
Currently working toward a Bachelor's degree from in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Occupational Health or related physical or biological science from an accredited university with expected graduation by June 30, 2019. (applicant must include graduation date on resume)
Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be US Citizen
