AECOM Civil/Engineer III in Akron, Ohio

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced civil engineer or environmental engineer to work in remediation with an engineering design group on projects involving site/civil design, solid waste management, environmental infrastructure, storm water management, construction and engineering services, for a variety of clients across the U.S , specifically, Akron, OH.

Typical responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development of site/civil and environmental design projects, including developing grading, drainage, and storm water management.

  • Lead the development and application of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and analyses related to a variety of water resource engineering design projects and be able to mentor junior staff in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.

  • Prepare and review engineering related calculations and develop high-quality technical reports, design drawings and specifications.

  • Independently develop solutions for technical problems.

  • Be able to serve as a task manager on larger projects, or as a project manager on smaller projects.

  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.

  • Travel to project sites as needed to attend client meetings or provide short-term construction oversight.

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • 4+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education

  • Willingness to travel up to (20%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of relevant experience.

  • Masters degree in Engineering or Civil Engineering

  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Ohio and/or other states with the ability to obtain an Ohio license within 6 months.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, with a desire to work in a dynamic and fast pace deadline driven environment.

  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with clients and coordinate among multidiscipline design teams.

  • Demonstrate the ability to create site plans following client and local and/or federal code requirements.

  • Demonstrate experience in Storm water management and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling using HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar programs

  • Demonstrate experience in developing site/civil plans and drawings, including advanced experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D: Create Civil 3D surfaces & grading; Process and evaluate raw survey data; Create alignments, profiles, sections, and pipe networks.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
