Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects

  • Assist a project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids

  • Assist in maintaining project documentation

  • Produce high quality plans that are accurate and effective in communicating the design concept to the constructor

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered

  • Identifies discrepancies in results

Transportation design including but not limited to

  • Geometric Layout

  • Cross-sections

  • Plan preparation

  • Cost estimating

  • Report writing

  • Track and Transit Systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering or other related field required

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as of Land Desktop/AutoCAD, InRoads, InSite, and MicroStation)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
