AECOM Geologist II in Annapolis Junction, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated Geologist for our Annapolis Junction, MD office. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects, including preliminary assessments, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site/remedial investigations, environmental monitoring/sampling, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater sampling. Will perform field sampling activities and demonstrate proficiency with field instrumentation and equipment while working on interesting, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to learn and expand skills in a variety of environmental settings.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology and 2 years of relevant equivalent experience and or education

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in geology, geological sciences or hydrogeology and 2 years of relevant equivalent experience and or education

  • 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting.

  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft office suite).

  • Ability and eagerness to perform field activities and work under the direction of a senior geologist. Strong written and communication skills.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
