AECOM Environmental Scientist II in Annapolis, Maryland

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a self-motivated Environmental Scientist for our Annapolis Junction, MD office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assisting in the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental projects, including preliminary assessments, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site/remedial investigations, environmental monitoring/sampling, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) wastewater sampling.

  • Will perform field sampling activities and demonstrate proficiency with field instrumentation and equipment while working on interesting, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to learn and expand skills in a variety of environmental settings.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in environmental science or other scientific discipline (i.e. Geology, Biology,) + 2 years of experience and/or education in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds

  • Ability to safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

  • Overnight travel up to 25% for about 1 week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in environmental consulting, including field-sampling procedures (groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging, etc.), soil boring/monitoring well installations, analytical data interpretation and reporting.

  • Current OSHA HAZWOPER certification preferred.

  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

  • Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft office suite products.

  • Ability and eagerness to perform field activities and work under the direction of a senior geologist.

  • Strong written and communication skills.
