AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geologist to join our Remediation team in our Annapolis Junction, Maryland location. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services to our key clients.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the environmental field, specific to contaminated site investigation and remediation. This position also requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn new skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assist with collecting and evaluating geological, hydrogeological, and remediation system data in both field and office settings
Responsibility for soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
Coordination and preparation of written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums and analysis of data and development of supported conclusions.
Environmental fieldwork including drilling, well installation, aquifer testing, as well as collecting soil, groundwater, and remediation system data
Preparation and implementation of work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations)
Perform independent hands-on fieldwork, oversee contractors (laboratory, drillers, surveyors), and other field personnel, and interact with clients/client representatives
Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope
Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Assist Project Manager on large, complex projects in fiscal management, client liaison, reporting requirements, coordination with project team members, and other tasks as may be required.
Work collaboratively with other members and teams within the department, and other professionals within other AECOM internal business lines.
Undertake technical work in accordance with the contracted scope of work, budget, schedule and legislative standards
Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and Supervisor certification
Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 50/50 percent split between office and field work.

BA/BS Geological, Hydrogeological, or Environmental Sciences, or Engineering
4 years of relevant work experience and or demonstrated equivalency of work experience and or education.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable meeting with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike.
Flexible with working hours and locations, frequent travel within 1 – 2 hour drive of home office, and occasionally further.
Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks.
Strong research and report writing
