Job Description
AECOM is in search of a Design Principal to lead multiple concurrent design efforts and local design initiatives; client engagement and relationship building; coordinate design staff responsibilities; lead project pursuits and interviews; and perform recruitment, mentorship, and inspiration of the next generation of design staff in our Washington, DC area offices .
As a key project leader and champion for design, the Design Principal will:
Represent and advocate for the firm’s design ethos, approach, and brand
Lead design efforts and review design progress for multiple concurrent projects
Lead client engagement and design decision making
Promote a healthy and inclusive approach to design dialogue and critical discourse
Drive innovation through multi-disciplinary research and collaborations
Organize and lead multi-disciplinary design charrettes and reviews
Build relationships with academic institutions and industry organizations
Recruit, mentor, review and grow the next generation of design leadership
Lead business development and marketing efforts in coordination with Sector Leads
Coordinate with and support the Regional Design Principal on the implementation of strategic initiatives
AECOM’s Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building engineering, workplace strategy, business transformation, asset advisory, economics and development planning, master planning, urban planning, and landscape architecture.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education
U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of this job
Preferred Qualifications :
Licensed architect with 15+ years as a designer including significant experience leading project design teams and client interactions
LEED accreditation preferred
Possession of a security clearance or ability to get one
Exceptional design portfolio with preference for experience in Government, Corporate Commercial, Higher-Education, and Transportation typologies
Proven ability to conceptualize, develop and implement innovative design solutions on a wide variety of projects
Design recognition as demonstrated through awards and publications
Exceptional presentation and client management skills
Ability to recruit, inspire and mentor design talent
