Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Federal Energy Business Developer for our Energy Practice. This is a senior level position within our Energy business practice and will be strategically focused across the United States, prioritizing federal government clients and other large public and private customers.
AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely. The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the growth strategy for AECOM’s alternate delivery and energy consulting business. This individual will define the growth plans and cultivate client relationships that result in business growth associated with alternate delivery, renewable energy, energy storage, distributed energy resources, building decarbonization, and transportation electrification. Candidate will focus on developing client accounts, managing pursuits and leading proposal development.
Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation, an acute passion for developing solutions, knowledge of the federal government’s decarbonization goals and strategies, knowledge of the current pipeline of energy projects and the ability to collaborate with a strategic interdisciplinary team of business development and operations professionals.
We are seeking an individual with:
Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills
Strong proposal management and excellent writing ability
Proven expertise in business development and market strategy development/execution
Knowledge of federal energy business models
The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Develop and implement multi-year growth strategy, including development of key performance metrics, client account plans, service offerings, market trend analysis and brand elevation/thought leadership
Knowledge of upcoming energy transformation opportunities
Existing relationships with federal energy professionals
The ability to identify, develop, and propose new projects; negotiate partnerships and alliances; structure and close transactions; manage senior-level relationships internally and externally; and maintain a sharp focus on client satisfaction throughout project/program lifecycle
Help recruit and build a team of professionals to support the growth strategy
Plan, organize and implement all business development activities for an assigned market
May supervise and oversee business development staff and managers.
Participate in decision-making.
Work independently to pursue development of new business prospects.
Lead proposal development
Develop and present presentations to potential clients.
Has broad knowledge of the business to support cross-discipline, business line, and region collaboration.
Generally has business development and/or technical experience, with hands-on qualifications and cost proposal development.

AECOM’s Energy practice provides a wide range of services from consulting and engineering design to energy engineering, energy procurement and construction (EPC) for power, energy efficiency, and renewable energy clients. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education and must include 4 years of leadership.
Valid US Driver’s License
Travel is required
US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated networking capabilities with public and private clients, power and energy industries, from inception through contract award and implementation
An understanding of multiple project delivery/financing methods and the associated risks and benefits of each (Specific experience a plus)
Demonstrated successful financial closing of multiple energy programs and consulting projects (e.g. T&D, distributed energy resources and renewables)

Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $122,820.39 - $227,217.73 annually exempt.
