Job Description
The Urban + Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking a highly organized Project Assistant for immediate employment in our Planning Group in the Arlington, VA office. The Project Assistant will support multi-disciplinary planning projects for community, environmental, and military installations.
The Urban + Planning studio, part of the Building + Places business line, is dedicated to excellence and integrated design solutions. With a range of expertise from strategy through project realization, the connections we make among people and places provide new insight to better outcomes for clients and communities. Our expertise includes master planning, urban planning, economic and development planning, landscape architecture, architecture, interiors, workplace strategy, and building engineering.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide production support in the preparation of master planning documents and deliverables to clients
Provide graphic and formatting report skills in development phases of the project production
Assist in the preparation of materials for project meetings and workshops including presentations, agendas, and gather all necessary supplies
Assist in the coordination, setup, and organization of meetings
Assist with the on-boarding process for new hires
Manage planning group’s office equipment
Arrange travel for meetings and workshops
Provide research support during the data collection phase of projects
Provides administrative support to one or more managers within a group, office, or business unit including some of or all of the following: prepares or proofs correspondence, forms, spreadsheets, or documents, schedules meetings, makes travel arrangements, and/or maintains an inventory of office supplies.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
Provides document management and project controls support which includes the receipt, inventory, audit, tracking, storage, retrieval, and distribution of both classified and unclassified electronic, paper, and other media project data and documents according to company policy, and proper procedures for the projects
Manages the setup and maintenance of document control / records management for multiple projects and Project Managers
Ensures that all local practices and activities comply with company policies and procedures
Applies sound professional judgment and independent thought on details of work
Resolves questions and problems
Independently performs most assignments with little or no oversight
Under general supervision, interacts with professional/technical staff and clients to accomplish assigned objectives
Requires limited exercise of judgment
Receives guidance on new aspects of assignments
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Uses Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other programs to accomplish work

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS plus two (2) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Must be a U.S. citizen
Professional writing and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to candidates demonstrating above-average skills using Adobe Acrobat and InDesign
Preference given to those with a consultative, service-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Detail-oriented and able to closely follow instructions and direction
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities
Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities effectively
Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency
