AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to join our growing Energy Team. As a Senior Energy Engineer you will be responsible for developing and delivering energy efficiency and decarbonization solutions to AECOM’s diverse clients. Client market segments include public and private sector clients including investment real estate, multifamily residential, healthcare, higher education, corporate, and manufacturing facilities. The primary area of focus will be the East Coast with emphasis on New York, with a secondary focus on supporting overall US portfolio of projects.
Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to join our growing Energy Team. As a Senior Energy Engineer you will be responsible for developing and delivering energy efficiency and decarbonization solutions to AECOM’s diverse clients. Client market segments include public and private sector clients including investment real estate, multifamily residential, healthcare, higher education, corporate, and manufacturing facilities. The primary area of focus will be the East Coast with emphasis on New York, with a secondary focus on supporting overall US portfolio of projects.
The successful candidate is a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation and a passion for developing energy efficiency solutions in a decarbonizing world. Critical skillsets include teamwork skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills, an understanding of the energy industry, a comprehensive understanding of complex HVAC systems, and strong data analysis skills.
In addition, the successful candidate will have strong writing skills and ability to present technical solutions to a non-technical audience as well as the ability to produce and present high quality deliverables to our clients.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Identifying, developing, and executing smart energy and energy efficiency projects by developing and implementing site-specific scopes of work, managing client relationships, and ensuring project success and profitability
Observing and analyzing building energy performance
Detailed analysis of clients’ energy use and cost
Leading and delivering energy auditing, retro- commissioning, and other project scopes of work designed to help AECOM clients reduce energy use and lessen their carbon emissions
Collaboratively engaging AECOM clients’ site engineering personnel in support of project success
Identifying utility incentive opportunities
Analysis of clients’ energy data in support of HVAC system optimization
Analysis of capital project opportunities and resulting payback and ROI
Meeting established targets and goals
Leading project teams on large scale assignments

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or related field
8 years of directly relevant experience
Demonstrated experience with ASHRAE energy audit reporting protocols and reporting standards
Experience leading energy audits of large, complex buildings and presenting results in written report format
Experience analyzing HVAC system performance data to identify and support energy efficiency opportunities in buildings
Preferred Qualifications :
Advanced engineering degree
PE
Certified Energy Manager certification
Working knowledge of the energy industry sufficient to understand AECOM clients’ diverse sources of energy
Familiarity with utility incentives in supports of their customers’ energy reduction projects
Familiarity with renewable energy resources
An understanding of New York City local laws driving the city’s 80/50 initiative
Significant experience with energy intensive and specialty uses facilities
Energy modeling skills
Familiarity with SkySpark software
Experience with professional development of more junior energy engineers

Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $129,612.06 - $239,782.32.
