AECOM Urban Analyst in Arlington, Virginia
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an Urban Analyst to join our Urban Analytics & Innovation Groups within AECOM’s Buildings + Places business line. The Urban Analyst will work with core team members of the Urban Analytics team as well as leaders and experts across multiple disciplines from around the world to support and deliver quality products and solutions to public and private sector clients, and to support projects and opportunities. This individual will have the opportunities to work on high-profile projects related to the urban built environment, collaborate with talent professionals at AECOM, and develop his/her career on data science and tool development.
Job Responsibilities:
Work on a wide range of products, projects, and tasks.
Perform data mining, data manipulation, data analysis, and data visualization. Assist in building complex data models with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including spatial and non-spatial data.
Support and create client-facing, user-friendly dashboards, tools, and applications (desktop or web-based). Create reusable scripts to automate procedures.
Support in research and development of innovated products, tools, and platforms.
Develop graphics, maps, reports, and presentations for internal and external use. Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree/ PhD in Engineering, Economics, Urban Planning, Geography, Social Science, Mathematics, and other related subjects
Two (2) years’ experience in at least one programming language such as python, R, JavaScript, or VBA/Macros
Data visualization Skills. Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or other programs/libraries
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years’ relevant work experience in data engineering, data analysis, data modeling, or data visualization in consulting, research, or academic fields
Experience in creating dashboards and tools. Experience in developing web-based application/software is a plus
Experience in automating procedures to reduce repeated manual work
Experience in SQL or NoSQL database and capability in writing queries/scripts to retrieve or manipulate data; experience working with spatial data is a plus
Familiarity with cloud platform such as Azure or AWS
Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Spark or other technologies
Strong business acumen. Demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems
Interest in Urban Planning
