Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to be based in our Atlanta, Georgia office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin immediately.
The Environmental Scientist II will serve as a team member in the field and the office, assisting project and program management with implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
This is a field-based role comprising approximately 75% field work and 25% office-based work. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about environmental investigation and remediation and will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects.
This position requires excellent communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.
Please take note this role will require travel outside of the Atlanta Metropolitan area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the region and the United States.
The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
Utilizing various techniques to generate data from remedial or investigative field work. Field work includes but is not limited to soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (i.e., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.), operations and maintenance of remedial systems, etc.
Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Developing knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
Detecting problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Proposing appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assisting in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Environmental Science or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening
As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a medical screening
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of experience performing and leading site investigations that included soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with various drilling techniques (i.e., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.), analytical data interpretation and reporting
Experience sampling for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in soil and water in accordance with current USEPA sampling protocols.
Experience with O&M and optimization of groundwater remediation systems.
Experience working in State and Federal Programs
Prior Federal government security clearance is a plus.
Current OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training
Current OSHA 30-Hr Construction Training
Proficient experience with ArcGIS and/or CAD
Familiarity with State and Federal Environmental Regulations
Additional Information

Relocation is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00.
