AECOM is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer based in Atlanta, Georgia.
As an ITS/Traffic Engineer in the ITS/Traffic Department, you will assist with a variety of work including traffic signal timing/operations, traffic engineering studies, safety studies, traffic signal design, ITS planning, ITS architecture, ITS design, and ITS communications. A senior technical resource may serve as a technical advisor for the team. Develops design, study, or signal operations procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others
Manages the ITS qualified projects list (QPL).
Reviews vendor submittals for placing their products on the QPL.
Coordinates with vendors and GDOT staff to accept or reject product approvals.
Prepares and revises technical specifications as needed.
Leads team developing and implementing signal timings.
Leads active management of signal timing systems.
Provides quality reviews of reports and studies documenting active management activities.
Assesses the performance of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepares reports.
Performs troubleshooting and repair of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepares reports.
Leads/manages design of intersection and traffic signal design projects according to each agency’s standards and plan development processes.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Participates in the interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops specialized solutions.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing studies.
Performs quality control review of analyses, studies, signal timing plans, calculations, or drawings.
Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve project challenges and provides coaching to peers and team members.
Actively pursues continuous learning of technical advances, emerging business/industry trends, and competitive positioning.
Interacts regularly with clients (internal and external) to expand work assignments or market new work.
Effectively manages assigned projects/tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule
Manages client expectations (internal and external) to ensure the client is highly satisfied with the project(s)
Effectively manages project teams including engineers, planners, and technicians.
Develop new business by fostering existing and new client relationships.
Assist with and/or lead proposal development opportunities, including go/no-go decisions, determining teaming partners, scoping tasks, preparing estimates, and managing the proposal development team.
Periodic travel required within Georgia and neighboring states to serve GDOT projects and visit clients.
Perform other duties as assigned.
BS Civil Engineer
Six (6) or more years of ITS/Traffic engineering work experience or demonstrated equivalency of project management experience and/or education.
Ability to meet company standards for background checks and drug tests.
Professional Engineer license.
GDOT traffic engineering design and project experience.
