AECOM Senior Traffic and Safety Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Traffic Engineering & Safety Deputy Project Manager based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Responsibilities: The position will oversee staff, manage deliverable, create work orders, and review project financials to support the GDOT Safety Contract and other assignments of the AECOM traffic group. Will oversee Atlanta metropolitan and rural area traffic safety projects developing traffic solutions with innovative designs.

  • Provide technical oversight/support to task deliverables

  • Plan and manage tasks and team members

  • Coordinate with other disciplines

  • Interact and coordinate regularly with clients and sub consultants in the various assignments

  • Lead the engineering efforts for traffic engineering reports and studies (as well as crash screenings, concept reports, road safety assessment reports)

  • Lead the engineering efforts for alternative designs (roundabouts, RCUTs, RIROs, DDIs, etc.) develop concept sketches and quantities development

  • Travel within Georgia as required to serve the clients and projects on occasion

  • Write work orders and review and manage budgets for work orders

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • BS Civil Engineer with 6 + years of traffic engineering and design experience or equivalent experience and/or education

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), MicroStation, Synchro, and HCS

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Sidra and VISSIM

  • Road Safety Professional 1 certification

  • Project Management experience or certification

  • 10+ years of traffic engineering and design experience

  • Possess a Georgia Professional Engineer License

  • Experience with GDOT projects or other state DOTs projects

  • ​Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a strong desire to learn
