The successful candidate will work with the Atlanta-based transit planning practice to provide high-quality deliverables and technical planning support services for our Georgia clients. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of ArcView GIS, InDesign, and other technical programs used to analyze data and inform decision-making.
Demonstrate familiarity and knowledge of transit planning concepts, including NEPA, transit operation and route planning, and data analysis.
Develops reports, graphics, and technical memoranda as assigned.
Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations.
Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.
Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plan, transportation plan, and land development regulations.
Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.
Conducts review of various development applications, including plats, permits, site plans, variance requests, and rezonings.
Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence.
Identifies community problems, issues, and opportunities in particular neighborhoods that could be mitigated through better community planning.
Develops long-range plans for communities with common developmental issues.
Develops strategies to promote economic and community development, or efficient land use consistent with community goals.
Evaluates the adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
Recommends priorities, schedules, and funding sources to implement public improvements plan.
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Environmental Planning, or related field.
2+ years of experience in transportation planning, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), economic development, rural planning, and transit planning.
Competence in Geographic Information Systems software (GIS), including ArcInfo.
Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
Master's degree in Urban Planning or similar.
Familiarity with Federal Transportation Funding.
Knowledge of transit planning.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
