Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to be based in Austin, TX .

This position is expected to begin March 2023.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Assist in the design of transportation bridge engineering projects

  • Preparing and checking design calculations for bridges and other transportation-related structures

  • Drawing preparation, review, and checking

  • Quantity calculations

  • Shop drawing review

  • Preparation of reports and specifications

  • Assisting in maintaining project documentation

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or related field

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship or US permanent residency is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree a plus

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mathcad, MicroStation and some industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as LEAP, PGSuper)

  • Some working familiarity with TxDOT is preferred

  • Candidate should be detail oriented and should have strong skills in structural analysis, steel and concrete design; and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn

  • Ability to do occasional travel

  • Previous work experience in bridge design.
