Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to be based in Austin, TX .
This position is expected to begin March 2023.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Assist in the design of transportation bridge engineering projects
Preparing and checking design calculations for bridges and other transportation-related structures
Drawing preparation, review, and checking
Quantity calculations
Shop drawing review
Preparation of reports and specifications
Assisting in maintaining project documentation
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or related field
Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship or US permanent residency is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree a plus
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mathcad, MicroStation and some industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as LEAP, PGSuper)
Some working familiarity with TxDOT is preferred
Candidate should be detail oriented and should have strong skills in structural analysis, steel and concrete design; and the ability to work in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn
Ability to do occasional travel
Previous work experience in bridge design.
