Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced transportation professional to lead and manage an emerging technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) group in Austin, TX. The Emerging Technology Leader will act as a local external ambassador for advanced transportation and ITS services, support business development and growth, and help lead, manage, and coordinate projects and staff.

Job Summary/Responsibilities
The candidate will work collaboratively with others, including other division and office leadership and manage technical staff, in a dynamic setting to support client engagement, business development, and project execution. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
Provides leadership and direction through managers and professional staff and leads efforts to grow company technical expertise
Manages other managers or leads large technical efforts by delegating work and directing less experienced staff to complete assignments
Delivers effective communication inclusive of clients and team members to clarify expectations and requirements
Leads a technical discipline, client programs or multiple company processes or programs
Leads teams to develop multidisciplinary proposals including technical strategy
Advises regional business managers on growth, staff recruitment and retention, and technical excellence strategies
Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments and managing technical elements of large, complex projects
Identifies potential clients and work and collaborates with client managers to win work
Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges and provide coaching to peers and team members
Trains, mentors, and evaluates less experienced staff
Recruits and helps retain lower-level staff
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 10 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and 15+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in TX and/or AZ
Experience in managing a team of other transportation professionals
Established external reputation in transportation technology solutions in the Texas transportation community
Active in professional and industry organizations such as ITS America, and ITE
Experience working for, or selling to, public sector agencies with a preference toward clients in the ITS and emerging technology transportation sector
Knowledge and/or experience in ITS design, traffic signal systems, systems engineering and ITS planning/architecture development
Knowledge of emerging technologies such as connected, automated and electric vehicles
Knowledge of signal optimization ( Synchro), simulation modeling and general traffic engineering a plus
Experience in proposal development and other business development activities
Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff
Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
Strong problem solving, analytical and research skills
Ability to balance various project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality
