AECOM Senior Project Manager in Austin, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced transportation professional in Austin, TX to help manage and lead large traffic engineering and technology programs in Austin and other areas of Texas. The Senior Project Manager will lead and/or support management of general transportation engineering consulting and staff augmentation projects, perform business development, manage staff, and coordinate multiple staff located in Austin, TX. The roles and responsibilities include contract/project management and project execution. Technical work can include traffic engineering study, design, smart mobility programs, and transportation planning in urban environment.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will need to be an experienced project manager who can work collaboratively with others, in a dynamic setting to support external client engagement, project management, business development, and internal leadership. The ideal person must be able to communicate their ideas clearly and convincingly to peers, senior leadership, partners, and clients. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage large multi-million dollar projects including program management, planning, engineering or other services for public sector clients

  • Provides for coordination between organizations and interacts with senior government or public officials and/or executive level clients on transportation programs

  • Successfully leads pursuits of both traditional government RFPs as well as unsolicited proposals related to new technologies in transportation

  • Supervises and directs other staff, project managers, client staff, and subcontractors with multiple projects or program of projects

  • Manages projects and Austin team in delivering world class service to clients

  • Support growth of advanced mobility practice in Texas

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in civil/transportation engineering or related field and at least ten (10) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience

  • Experience to include 2 years of leadership

  • Demonstrated project management experience on large transportation projects

  • Background in traffic and transportation engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in TX.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience including project management of large, complex multi-million dollar projects

  • Program management training and certification

  • Experience working for, or selling to, public sector agencies in the transportation sector

  • Experience in client management and proposal development

  • Active participation and presence in professional organizations such as ASCE, ITE, or other.

  • Team-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Ability to communicate problems and solutions clearly and simply to clients, leadership, and technical staff

  • Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to balance various project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality
