AECOM Sr. Oracle Applications & BI Systems Support Analyst in Austin, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Oracle Applications & BI Systems Support Analyst to join our Corporate IT team.

This role will offer flexibility for remote and/or hybrid remote work schedules, and can be based from either Los Angeles, CA or Austin, TX.

  • Builds, enhances and maintains an Enterprise Data Warehouse that serves the reporting and analytical needs for AECOM.

  • Participates in Systems Delivery Life Cycle for Data Integration projects including preparing detailed technical design documents; designing and developing ETL/ELT code; participating in unit and system testing; engaging with supporting administration teams, Cognos developers, and data analysts; and providing production and off-hours operations support.

  • Guides/directs junior staff on coding strategy, logic and performance optimization.

  • Works with different teams to support and enhance the financial and BI applications. This includes but is not limited to needs analysis, documentation, design, process improvement, configuration, conversion, data cleanup, systems testing, training, resolving critical issues, regression testing, functional/configuration changes associated with change/enhancement requests, report development and support.

Day to Day Support

  • Implements and maintains AECOM’s Enterprise Data Warehouse. Responsible for populating the data warehouse using extracts from platforms including but not limited to Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, flat files, spread sheets and API data access.

  • Creates the end-to-end solutions for ETL/ELT transformational jobs that involve writing the Informatica workflows and mappings, Oracle PL/SQL procedures and functions, and Unix shell scripting to load AECOM data into Operational Staging and Warehouse from disparate source systems.

  • Supports existing ETL programs and ensure daily/weekly/monthly processes are completed according to report publishing schedules. Tunes ETL code and addresses errors or data anomalies as required.

  • Monitors daily and weekend scheduled processes to ensure successful run of data loads into the BI data warehouse.

  • Prototypes solutions, prepares test scripts, and conducts tests for data replication, extraction, loading, cleansing, and data modeling for data warehouse.

  • Maintains knowledge of software tools, languages, scripts, and shells that effectively support the Oracle application and data warehouse environment.

For minor and major enhancements:

  • Define and document requirements for enhancements and submit documented requests for review, assignment and completion to internal development or configuration resources, or 3 rd party providers.

  • Ensure that requirements are well understood, developed or configured successfully.

  • Perform and coordinate QA, and facilitate training as needed with end users.

  • Coordinate with team members to deploy changes to the production environment.

  • Develop and maintain functional specifications for any customizations needed.

For project work:

  • Partner with a Project Manager to facilitate requirements, process and functional design review sessions.

  • Contribute to project work plans – scope, and work effort needed for the Business Analysts contributions. Emphasis on understanding the deliverables needed to achieve project success.

  • Document current state and develop and document future state business process deliverables.

  • Document business requirements taking into consideration the format needed to support the desired technical solution, customer and development team/technology. Demonstrate ability to negotiate requirements among multiple stakeholders.

  • Analyze processes and identify areas for improvement along with possible solutions.

  • Support the successful delivery of projects – ensure that assigned and committed work is completed within given timelines.

  • Contribute to design sessions with technology development team members to define the end state solution. Identify gaps in requirements vs. solution and offer recommendations for resolving. Facilitate resolution of gaps with either business or technical team as needed.

  • Develop and document elements of systems design, including data migration rules, business rules, or other detailed deliverables.

  • When applicable and for major projects, lead a team of business analysts to produce work for an assigned project.

  • Independently or in collaboration with QA Team, develop and execute test plans and test cases that complement business requirements and functional specifications.

  • Independently or in partnership with a training team develop and execute training plans and document training materials.

  • Contribute to the definition and measurement of planned and realized project benefits.

  • Implementing and supporting the roll-out of new solutions

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field plus at least 10 years of relevant experience as a Business and System Analyst or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Expert knowledge using Informatica Power Center 10.x required.

  • Experience with performance tuning techniques on ETL code as well as underlying databases required.

  • Experience with database development for data warehouse projects including writing SQL queries, PL/SQL functions, procedures and packages on Oracle RDBMS 11.x or higher, required.

  • Working knowledge of data modeling required.

  • Technical and development experience with Oracle E-business Suite required.

  • Experience with software development life cycle mythologies required

  • Experience designing and documenting business process workflows, business requirements documents, and test cases is required. Samples may be requested.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Cognos BI is a plus.

  • Understanding various aspects of logical, conceptual and physical modeling of data warehouse projects preferred.
