Job Summary

AECOM is hiring an experienced Systems Integration Engineer for the MTA Purple Line Transit Partners in Baltimore, Maryland.

Responsible for the completion of assumed Purple Line Transit Partners (PLTP) duties for documenting and tracking the integration of systems and facilities design, installation, and acceptance testing of the Purple Line included in Systems Engineering (SE). The base system functionality is defined in the Purple Line Technical Provisions and has been further defined in design documents developed by PLTP. These design documents include the Design Criteria and Basis of Design Reports, Engineering Study Reports, Equipment & Material Specifications and Engineering Plan sets. The design and plan set documents to include the interfaces and integration requirements of all Purple Line elements for Interface Management (TP Part 2A-Section 3.9), Systems General Requirements (TP Part 2B, Section 11), Test program (TP Part 2C, Section 1), Rail Activation (TP Part 2B, Section 3) and Operational Readiness (TP Part 2C, Section 4).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Under limited supervision, responsible for the complex technical work to document and track the integration and interface design, construction and acceptance testing of the Purple Line LRVs, Systems, and facilities to meet defined design, operations, and maintenance criteria, including good engineering practices that comply with the project design documents, federal, state and industry regulatory requirements.

  • The Systems Integration requirements relate to numerous systems and facilities functional requirements incorporated into designs include plans and specifications for material and equipment and interface & integration requirements for:

  • LRVs

  • Train Control

  • Traction Power Substations

  • OCS

  • Communications

  • Control and Monitoring

  • Fire and Security

  • Fare System

  • Corrosion Control and Grounding

  • Facilities mechanical & Electrical

  • Outside Agencies

  • Monitors and reports information, as requested by the Manager, for:

  • Schedule performance

  • Contractor invoices

  • Verification that submittals are completed, as required, and comments are properly addressed

  • Reviews system-to-system and system-to-facilities construction work plans

  • Leads the coordination and resolution of all interface construction plans

  • Leads the coordination of systems testing plans with safety certification

  • Implements appropriate safety and health programs, systems, and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • 4 plus years of Transit (light rail/heavy rail/commuter rail) systems design, light rail vehicles, construction, operations, and/or maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 plus years of related experience in Transit (light rail/heavy rail/commuter rail) systems design, light rail vehicles, construction, operations, and/or maintenance.
