AECOM is actively seeking a talented, energetic technology minded GIS professional for immediate employment in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. The GIS Specialist will report to the GIS Manager in the Information Management Solutions Group and support both internal and external clients across multiple business lines. This position will support a wide variety of projects including environmental permitting, construction, site assessments/inspections, energy infrastructure, water resources, transportation, and more. A successful candidate will work with various AECOM staff and dynamic project teams to deliver map production, data analyses, and field data collection services critical to successful project delivery. Applicants need to understand coordinate systems/projections and how these are manipulated in ArcGIS. Field based GPS data collection and GIS integration experience desirable. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task GIS work across various projects, handle GIS problem solving tasks and work both independently and with a remote team. Candidates need be proficient with ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap and ArcCatalog) and have strong competency in the use of MS Word and Excel.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Utilize GIS techniques and software to assist project teams understand, interpret, visualize and report on geospatial data and feature relationships
Work under general supervision to complete project tasks including data management, data analysis, data collection, map production, and similar tasks
Support the workflow of projects that require field data collection including planning, equipment preparation, deployment, data collection, technical support, demobilization and data processing
Willing to travel both locally and nationally to support project execution
Performing tabular data management tasks, data entry, spreadsheet calculations and similar
Represent AECOM as GIS subject matter expert for on-site client support
Plan and conduct GIS work related to assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Develop and implement plans and criteria for data and map quality assurance/control
Works under direct supervision
Uses concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients.
This level is typically provided data from a level II or III for database entry and/or providing basic figures for projects and presentations. Level I is an end user of designs completed by level II and III.
Performs tasks of limited scope and complexity.
Four year degree in GIS, Geography, Geosciences, Computer Science or related field (with demonstrated GIS course work)
0-2 years of GIS experience in mapping, visualization, analysis and reporting of geospatial data
Proficiency with ESRI suite of desktop mapping and analysis tools and extensions
Knowledge of GPS hardware and software, and the integration of GPS data into GIS
Understanding of relational database organization, design, and functionality
Proficiency in the processing and analysis of raster and vector geospatial data
Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles
Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written form
Can work productively in both independent and team environments
Well-developed communication skills
Comfortable in a dynamic work environment with ability to adapt to shifting priorities
Able to research and problem solve independently
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Basic knowledge of Python and/or model builder
Working knowledge with ESRI ArcGIS Pro
Comfortable working within non-enterprise and enterprise (SDE), virtual application and remote networked environments
Working knowledge of LiDAR collection and processing techniques
Working knowledge of multi-user environments (ex. CITRIX)
40 Hour HAZWOPER training preferred but not required
