Job Description

AECOM is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Project Manager to be based out of our Bogotá office.

The Project Manager will oversee colocation and hyperscale data center projects from site due diligence, campus planning, conceptual/schematic/detailed design through construction documents, and construction administration. The ideal candidate has experience managing the design of colocation and hyperscale data centers, has a background preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering, and possesses exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery for Data Center projects in Latin America, in collaboration with design, permitting, procurement and construction technical leads / subject matter experts.

  • Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing) and AECOM project teams.

  • Administer, oversee, and perform peer review and quality checks in line with client and AECOM standards.

  • Oversee and maintain responsibility for project basis of design and localization process.

  • Establish and oversee a process to detect, track and resolve scope changes, errors, or inconsistencies throughout the design process.

  • Host and attend meetings with clients and external stakeholders.

  • Manage and grow AECOM’s data center design team, fostering a sense of comradery, collective ownership, and collaboration.

  • Proactively manage and communicate change throughout the project both within AECOM and to our clients.

  • Identify problems early and develop creative solutions.

  • Proactively communicate with all stakeholders to provide project updates and resolve outstanding issues.

  • Develop technical and financial proposals for new and add/move/change data center design projects

  • Responsible for management of project costs, risk, communications, procurement, and stakeholders.

  • Provide full Project Management duties to AECOM clients in accordance with AECOM’s project Delivery System (PDS).

  • Oversee preparation of project administration documents including design status updates, action item/risk tracker, meeting minutes and quality reports.

  • Approach to all projects requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity, excellent presentational skills, and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants.

  • Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in moderately sized projects with moderate risk, complexity, and financial impact.

  • Manages and leads all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using consistent processes and tools.

  • May include management of small teams across business lines, in remote locations and/or management of subcontractors.

  • Manages projects on a local to regional basis achieving quality outcomes, financial performance and client satisfaction.

  • Successfully develops strategy, prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and executes project.

  • Acts as primary point of contact with client

  • Directs and managers the entire project, guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, and a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.

  • Accountable for all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.

  • Overall responsibility and management of project including but not limited to budgeting/schedule stage, procurement, through contract closeout.

  • Position has primary fiscal responsibility and key liaison between client for assigned project.

Qualifications - Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related Careers, plus ten (10) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Fluent English and Spanish is required, portuguese is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • 10 years of relevant experience in design and/or project management

  • Registered Professional Engineer

  • Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Professional

  • Active or recent leadership in data center and mission-critical trade organization

  • 10 years in colocation and/or hyper-scale data center design management & engineering

  • Excellent communication (written/oral)

  • Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive situations and with minimal oversight

  • Team leadership skills

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
