AECOM Entry Level Geologist in Borger, Texas

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Geologist for employment at the Borger, Texas project site. The successful candidate(s) will work help supervise field investigations, remediation and small construction projects that are performed in a refinery setting. The work will include collection of soil and groundwater samples, management of subcontractors, review and interpretation of geologic data, laboratory analyses of soil and groundwater samples, report writing and support for implementation of health and safety plans. The position will report to a Program Manager and work under the supervision of AECOM Project Managers. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of geology, environmental investigation techniques and civil and mechanical construction.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science with an environmental focus or a related environmental degree from an accredited university

  • 0-2 years of experience in environmental and scientific/engineering related industry

  • Must by physically fit and pass a HAZWOPER physical.

  • Must be able to work in hot weather in accordance with AECOM’s and OSHA’s work-rest standard schedule.

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, face shield, safety shoes/boots, respirator, and hearing protection

  • Due to the nature of work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate or an up-to-date 8-hr annual refresher course certification is preferred. Candidates without current certification or without prior 40-hr training will be required to attend (and receive certification) immediately upon hire.

  • Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner

  • Candidate is expected to possess solid technical and problem solving skills

  • Fluency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) is mandatory

  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample requested)
