Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Transportation & Utility Planning Senior Advisor with a background in electric utility and railroad systems to support the conception, implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of passenger rail electrification systems across the Northeast US. This role is ideal for a consultant with a blend of technical knowledge and practical experience, ready to make a direct impact on rail electrification initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with major utility providers, such as Eversource, to establish and manage new utility interconnections, power supply connections, substations, and transmission lines to meet the power needs for rail electrification systems.
Provide expertise on traction power supply, including supply characteristics, code compliance, regulatory standards, industry best practices, and environmental and permitting requirements.
Contribute to system design and ensure understanding of rail electrification components, such as vehicle propulsion systems, grounding and bonding requirements, power quality, and signal systems.
Support the unique requirements of passenger rail service within Connecticut and across the Northeast region.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering plus twelve years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including four years of leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electric Power Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut
Proven experience in developing and implementing rail electrification systems in the Northeast, specifically with utility and rail coordination.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $125.00/hour - $130.00/hour.
