AECOM TSG Long Haul Solutions Advisor in Boston, Massachusetts
The TSG Long Haul Solutions Advisor will focus on planning, designing and implementation of long haul fiber optic solutions architecture for the various High Tech and Tier 1 service providers in the global digital infrastructure market. The Long Haul Solutions Advisor will report directly to the Connected Communities & Broadband Leader and will be responsible for the successful consultation, design, engineering, management and implementation of long haul, metro, middle mile and ILA infrastructure in private/public sector, high-tech and enterprise markets. These responsibilities will include pre-design, ILA site selection, route selection, constraints analysis, environmental assessments, OSP engineering standards, utility and railroad crossings, permitting, risk review and client engagement. Additionally, provide subject matter expertise in areas including stakeholder management and collaboration, leading a team of OSP engineers, developing schedules, establishing key milestones and driving critical path items for successful project delivery. The Long Haul Solutions Advisor is also responsible for understanding the client’s design and engineering standards, project budgets and the rights-of-way owners standards for designing a fiber optic cable traversing states, and state to state connectivity. This position requires a highly technical, self-motivated, customer-focused professional with strong management, communication and consulting skills who is committed to delivering collaborative and complex digital infrastructure solutions. Below are the core responsibilities of the position.
Articulates the Connected Communities & Broadband strategy and vision while effectively implementing the strategy across the private and public sector, high tech, national service and dark fiber provider and enterprise markets at the regional, national and global level.
Determines how the client defines success and aligns that vision with the appropriate long haul design and architecture.
Provide industry knowledge, specialization in outside plant design and engineering, cost estimating, ILA site selection, environmental permitting, utility and railroad crossing mitigation techniques and implementation of complex long haul projects that spans multiple states across the United States.
Co-creates accurate, detailed, and clear requirements for route and ILA site selection with the client to optimize routes and cost efficiencies.
Effectively communicate short-term and long-term risks, cost savings and mitigation recommendations to guide the client to the best overall solution that support both requirements and organizational objectives.
Partners with other Business Lines to ensure internal stakeholder input and client requirements align to the goals of the project.
Leads working groups and discovery sessions to best advise the client and deliver the project.
Manages multiple project teams with overall responsibility for work quality, meeting client expectations and project profitability.
Works to advance our reputation for quality and industry leadership.
Utilizes abilities to impact revenue growth and business development.
Works with the TSG Market Leaders to assist in engineering comprehensive TSG solutions.
Understands and is held accountable for actions that impact profit and loss.
Meets billable work ratio.
Takes a lead role in farming and developing follow on opportunities with existing clients.
Engages in continuous research and participates with stakeholder groups and forums to stay current on both current long haul, metro, middle mile, subsea, landing stations and fiber optic cable technology market trends.

BA/BS and eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education or 12 years of related experience with H.S. diploma.
Valid U.S. Driver's License
15 + years of relevant dark fiber or long-haul service provider experience.
15 + years of designing and implementing national service provider infrastructure.
Ability to prioritize and concurrently service multiple complex long-haul, metro network, middle mile, ILA and landing station projects and tasks.
Effective communication skills with peers in the group and team members.
Ability to interact well with other specialties, business lines, manage a team of engineers and clients in a manner that builds productive relationships.
Strong mentor, manager and coach of team members and peers.
Demonstrated history of solid leadership skills that support and advance the group’s goals and vision.
Ability to operate with a high level of independence to coordinate and work within the group on complex assignments.
