Job Description
Coordinate with other disciplines (coastal modeling, civil and structural engineering) to conduct coastal, climate change, and resilience analyses, and determine the flood protection alignment locations, flood gate types, and the DFE (Design Flood Elevation). Collaborate with flood protection gate manufacturers to create innovate gate designs and specifications. Provide coastal resilience and climate adaptation design strategies and solutions through multi-purpose landscape infrastructure strategies that provide integrated flood risk reduction with other community assets into the public realm design for communities at risk due to climate change. Play an active role in the design process from concept through construction. Prepare design presentation graphics, renderings, 3D models, physical models, and technical drawings. Lead research on site-specific materials and conditions. Collaborate with project team members across disciplines and lead multi-disciplinary design discussions and workshops to facilitate a comprehensive approach to resilient design strategies. Participate in client and agency meetings to communicate design concepts, project requirements, and build consensus between stakeholders. Plan, develop, and facilitate community and stakeholder engagement meetings and produce required presentation and engagement activity materials for inclusive and meaningful community input in the deign process. Perform basic architectural and engineering calculations for the purposes of interdisciplinary coordination and successful project progression. Prepare specifications, reports, and related data tables. Maintain liaison with design and drafting groups. Prepare, review, and receive approval of comprehensive drawing sets and specification as required to facilitate the successful technical implementation of complex, multi-layered, multi-purpose landscape infrastructure resiliency projects. Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments. Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel. Perform research for onsite specific materials and conditions. Develop community communication tools to describe complicated technical elements in an easily understood, accessible manner to the public. Work on coastal resiliency and climate adaptation infrastructure projects, multi-scale public landscape design projects. Utilize 3D modeling software: Rhino and Grasshopper as an integral part of a streamlined design process. Utilize drafting software: AutoCAD for the development of complete technical drawing sets including plans, elevations, sections, and details. Utilize graphic design software: Adobe Creative Suite and Lumion for the development of high-quality renderings and diagrams. Utilize mapping and analytics software: ArcGIS, MS Office Suite, and physical model making. Prepare designs and technical drawings using project specifications and discipline-specific written and verbal instructions. Develop cohesive design narratives for the communication of project components.
Qualifications
Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Landscape Architecture and 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of experience in a related occupation working on coastal resiliency and climate adaptation infrastructure projects; utilizing 3D modeling software: Rhino and Grasshopper; utilizing drafting software: AutoCAD; utilizing graphic design software: Adobe Creative Suite and Lumion; utilizing mapping and analytics software: ArcGIS, MS Office Suite, and physical model making; preparing designs and technical drawings using project specifications and discipline-specific written and verbal instructions; and developing cohesive design narratives for the communication of project components.
The salary range for this position is $79,165.00 - $107,001.81.
