AECOM Senior Virtual Environment Engineer in Camp Smith, Hawaii

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying virtual environments in support of DOD cyber training, testing, and experimentation tasks. The virtual environment engineer will integrate existing government, commercial and open-source environment tools to enable manual and automated development and deployment of cyber range environments for use on DOD closed networks and other venues which may include integration with federal, state, municipal, commercial, academic, and coalition partners.

Minimum Requirements


Bachelor degree in computer science or a related field

(or equivalent) and 10 years experience.

Six (6) years’ experience in data networking, including routing, switching, and VLANs

Four (4) years’ experience with role-based access control

Four (4) years’ experience hand-on virtualization experience with VMware environments, including installation, configuration, upgrading, troubleshooting and resolving performance issues

Four (4) years' experience with scripting and automation

DOD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification.


Networks – CISCO and Juniper switching infrastructures

Virtualization – Vmware, Kernel Virtual Manager, vSAN

Automation/Scripting - Quali, Python, Powershell, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Ubuntu MAAS

Operating Systems - Windows 7/10, Win Server 2012/2016, RHEL

Applications – Exchange 2010/2012, IIS, SQL Server

Security Appliances/VMs – PaloAlto, McAfee Network Security IPS, CISCO ASA, Metasploit, Splunk

Packet Capture/Traffic Generation - BreakingPoint, TCP Replay, WireShark

Hyper-converged technology


VMware Certified Professional
