AECOM Environmental Scientist in Charlotte, North Carolina
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist for employment within our Environmental Remediation Practices group in the Charlotte, NC office to lead our industrial asbestos/lead/mold program which includes inspection, design/plan, and abatement oversight and management.
This is an Asbestos Technical Lead -track position, therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, have excellent technical writing and editing skills, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.

Tasks will include:
Preparing and technical editing of reports and other technical documents.
Compiling, evaluating, and analyzing environmental data
Conducting/managing asbestos surveys, lead paint inspections, mold / indoor air quality surveys, and universal and general hazard inventories surveys
Mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative
Travel within a geographic territory conducting inspections; travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays
Field document preparation, field data collection, processing and interpretation

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, or closely related field and 6 years of experience in environmental consulting and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid driver's license
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
8 years of experience in environmental consulting
40-Hour HAZWOPER training
Asbestos Certifications (Inspector, Project Monitor, NIOSH 582, Supervisor and Designer)
Experience with Lead Paint Inspections and Indoor Air Quality Inspections
DOT and RCRA Training
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
