AECOM Senior Engineer/Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer for our Charlotte, NC office to support environmental investigations and remediation projects in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Recovery (Superfund), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), North Carolina Inactive Hazardous Waste Sites Program, and other regulatory programs. The candidate will provide project or task management and supervision of complex field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work. The candidate will also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

DCSA—Environment

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS Engineering and 10 years of experience in soil and groundwater sampling, monitoring well drilling, vapor intrusion evaluation, and construction management including 2 years of Leadership

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must possess a valid driver’s license. The position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina and may require out-of-State/overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Engineering

  • Preferred PE

  • Good communicator, self-motivated, good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, and competent use of safe-work behaviors

  • Must be able to write and convey thoughts; organize data in an efficient and clear manner; have excellent attention to detail; effectively multi-task; and desire to contribute to a dynamic team.

  • Strong scheduling, team building, and budget management skills

  • Project/program management experience

  • Ability to work independently and concurrently on multiple projects, maintaining project continuity, progress, and project profitability

  • Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office settings.

  • Strong core skill, such as remedial investigations, remedial design, geophysical investigations, aquifer testing/modeling experience, mechanical engineering, etc.

  • Personnel management

  • Lead marketing, proposal and client development efforts

  • Broad contaminant contamination experienced (VOCs, metals, petroleum, PFAS, etc.)

  • OSHA 40 training with current 8hr. OSHA Supervisors training

  • Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, ArcGIS, EQuIS, Python, R; are desirable.

Additional comments:

  • Must be able to conform to AECOM employment and travel policies, including ability to obtain and hold the AECOM corporate credit card for use in making travel-related purchases.

  • Must demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
