Job Summary

This Project Manager role within our Charlotte, NC AECOM office offers a great mix of direct engineering design and client-facing work. The focus of this role is stormwater infrastructure design

– including collection, conveyance, pumping, retention systems and best management practice (BMPs). Your project portfolio will include new infrastructure and improvements/repairs to existing infrastructure.

Your project deliverables will include

drainage area maps, hydraulic and hydrology reports, and the planning and design of various project elements; the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, and permitting packages. You will provide mentorship to junior staff and ensure their work quality.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Engineering or Environmental Engineering or related

  • 10+ years of experience in stormwater conveyance and management engineering and design, including retention impoundments, outfalls, and best management practices (BMP) design

  • Experience in the preparation of drainage area maps

  • Experience in the design of new Stormwater (SW) infrastructure and also in evaluation and design of repairs to existing SW conveyance systems

  • Experience in the preparation of hydraulic and hydrology reports

  • North Carolina Professional Engineering Licence (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months required

  • Project management experience required

  • Proven excellent leadership skills, and demonstrated ability to successfully manage diverse teams;Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals

  • Strong communication and client relation skills

  • Must have a valid drivers license

  • Positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative will integrate well with our existing group of outstanding professionals

  • Occasional business travel of one to four days per month may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in urban stormwater management

  • Business development experience

  • Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD Civil 3-D, ArcGIS, and other design software

  • Experience with diverse hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, and engineering software (examples: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Storm-CAD, Hydro-CAD, Bentley software, XP SWMM)
