Job Description

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Pipeline Design Manager to lead our growing Pipeline Design Practice, with a home base within New England. It is expected that this role will provide support to projects throughout the Northeast US.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in large diameter (greater than 20-in.) for water, wastewater, and/or stormwater pipeline design, analysis, installation, inspection, and leak detection in dense urban settings. The preferred candidate will have a proven ability to lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver successful projects.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Lead a team of engineers and designers in the design and engineering of large diameter pipeline projects from conception to completion

  • Collaborate with project managers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery

  • Develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates

  • Conduct field inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff

  • Stay current on industry trends and advancements in pipeline design and engineering.

  • Assess trends in the marketplace and lead strategy and assist with proposal development with support from local and national staff to capture expanded suite of services AECOM can offer clients

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in civil, mechanical, or related engineering degree, and 8+ years of related experience

  • Extensive project experience in water/wastewater/stormwater large diameter pipeline design, analysis, installation, inspection, leak detection, and management in design within dense urban settings.

  • Demonstrated understanding of various methods and technologies to perform assessment and design of large diameter pipeline systems.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Proven excellent leadership skills and demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of extensive project experience in municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater large diameter pipeline design, analysis, installation, inspection, leak detection, and management in design within dense urban settings

  • Master's Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering

  • Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes, standards, and regulations

  • Pipeline condition assessment and rehabilitation experience

  • Licensed PE in the state of MA, CT, or RI, or ability to obtain

  • Strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.

  • Self-motivated, requiring minimal oversight.
