Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a talented and experienced environmental Senior Project Manager to oversee Federal environmental remediation projects. The position is located in Chelmsford, MA. This environmental Senior Project Manager will be leading teams of professionals in executing CERCLA Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessment, and Treatability Studies on Superfund Sites in support of Federal environmental projects.

Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Experience with CERCLA projects and federal facilities

  • Familiar with project budget management, project invoicing and cash flow management

  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects

  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager

  • Oversees the preparation of work plans, cost estimates and organizes project studies

  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team

  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work

  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement

  • Leads preparation of complex proposals


Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or related field with + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects for federal clients.

  • Direct project management experience related to EPA Superfund site investigation and remediation

  • Professional License (PE, PG, PMP)

  • 10+ years experience in environmental remediation (soil, water, sediment, PFAS, munitions, designing and implementing remedial actions) project management.

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or related degree experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations experience successfully managing environmental projects for Federal clients (USACE, AFCEC, Navy)

  • Thorough working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, and related federal programs

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills. Experience in team management and scheduling of staff and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.

  • Management of cash flow, budgets on fixed price and cost reimbursable projects.

  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences. Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and schedules

  • Interest in business development.

  • Have led teams of professionals in executing Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessments, and Treatability Studies in support of Federal environmental projects

  • Occasional overnight travel required
