This is a unique growth opportunity for a Project Engineer who wants to take their career to the next level. Based out of our Chelmsford, MA Office, you have an opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams within our Water Business Line and have access to our National Design Center located in Chelmsford. The types of projects are varied and most are substantial in size. Many are full cycle activities starting from studies, to planning, design and through construction services.
At AECOM in our Water Business line, we do it all - water supply planning, treatment, and distribution; wastewater planning, collection, and treatment; water resources including stormwater planning and treatment, dams & hydropower, flood protection and climate resiliency. In this role, you will also have an opportunity to mentor junior staff and interact with key clients.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Interface with clients and regulatory agencies and play a major role on presentations to existing or potential clients as well as regulators
Lead technical designs and evaluations
Collaboratively work with multi discipline design team
Supervise, mentor and provide support for junior level engineering staff
Oversee and prepare engineering reports and documentation
Assist Sr. Managers – tracking scope, schedule and budget, adherence to QA/QC guidelines
Prepare engineering services proposals, cost estimates, and schedules
Prepare contract documents suitable for bidding
Field investigation and observation of construction projects
Preparing design calculations and construction cost estimates
Plan and prepare, or review, technical specifications and other procurement and contract documents
Strong written and oral communication skills
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing engineering deliverables such as engineering reports, design drawings, technical specifications, and other detailed engineering deliverables
Exceptional technical skills and experience working on storm water, water, wastewater, or flood protection/resilience projects
6+ years of experience on water, wastewater and water resource projects
Registered Professional Engineer licensed in New England or ability to gain via reciprocity within 6 months.
Master’s degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental engineering with an emphasis in wastewater collection and treatment.
Experience with the planning, design, and construction phase services for wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.
Experience with plant hydraulic evaluations and design.
Familiar with NPDES regulations and wastewater treatment process models.
Technical Report Writing, state/federal permitting, and standard engineering practices
Strong presentation skills
Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment
Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods
Self-starter and ability to take initiative
Client focused service perspective is a must
