Job Description
AECOM is seeking a talented GIS Developer to join our Applied Technology Team to support AECOM’s Chicago Department of Water Management Program in Chicago IL. The position has primary responsibility for identifying and implementing new technology, interfacing directly with the Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) personnel on GIS matters, and reporting on GIS tasks to DWM and the GIS team manager. The position is deadline driven and requires a high degree of organization and leadership to maintain multiple fronts of client interface, cross-discipline coordination, project delivery, and staff development.
The daily responsibilities of the GIS Developer can include the following tasks:
Interface with client and DWM PMO program staff regarding project planning and goal setting, and expectation management.
Collaborate with other GIS team members regarding product design and delivery requirements for the client.
Monitor GIS database and system performance, address possible issues and ensure the continuous delivery of high quality information to the client.
Manage existing GIS delivery workflows and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS + 6 Years of Related Experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
6 + years as a GIS Analyst, or similar position with professional level experience in design, development, implementation, and administration of a GIS enterprise environment.
B.S. or B.A. degree in GIS, Geography, or other science-related field.
Proficient in the use of Esri’s ArcGIS desktop applications for data analysis and creating presentation-quality maps.
Experience developing web and mobile applications in ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.
Experience creating automated data management processes or modifying web applications using Python, HTML, Javascript, or other applicable languages.
Demonstrated experience with designing, working in, and updating Esri enterprise database environments. Previous experience working with versioned datasets is strongly preferred.
Strong SQL server capabilities including building and understanding queries, developing and managing views, and understanding stored procedures/jobs.
Strong understanding of GIS system architecture and workflows.
Proven ability to interface and work effectively with client organizations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
Experience working in/for municipal agencies or with utility infrastructure work.
Experience creating reports or dashboards using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Microsoft Power BI.
Demonstrated capabilities in multi-variable work flow management: planning, monitoring, and reporting.
Write reports, business correspondence, and product design documentation.
