Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Transit/Rail Engineer to be based in Chicago, Illinois.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Sr. Transit/Rail Engineer in the Chicago Office is a key position and will report into the US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Department

• The position includes responsibility for business development, management of transportation planning studies, preliminary design studies and final design of transit and freight rail improvement projects

• Clients include CTA, Metra, CDOT, IDOT as well as counties, municipalities, regional planning agencies, ports, and Class I railroads

• The successful candidate may be asked to serve as an AECOM team and/or discipline lead, project manager and/or technical task leader on selected projects and will coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with others in the AECOM US West Region

• Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects

• Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise

• Approves and signs off on work

• Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts

• Presents complex technical solutions to clients

• Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others

• Participates in development of technical proposals

• Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree plus eight (8) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor' degree in Engineering or Construction Management 10+ years of relevant experience
