Job Description

AECOM is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join the staff in our Cincinnati, OH office as a mid-level geologist. The successful candidate will assist our team in conducting environmental investigations across many sites and industries. This position will support a variety of projects that may include surface water, sediment, soil, and groundwater remedial investigations, site characterizations, remedial designs, and remedial actions. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support a wide range of environmental investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA, RCRA, and State jurisdictions.

  • Contribute directly to the preparation and review of technical project deliverables (e.g., work plans, remedial investigations, and monitoring reports).

  • Contribute on projects regarding technical approach, numerical analysis, cost estimation, planning, design, scheduling, quality control, and safety.

  • Job duties will involve both field work and office assignments with occasional overnight travel required.

  • Manage and/or perform a variety of field work including environmental assessments, environmental investigations, site inspections, feasibility tests, remedial implementation, construction oversight, and subcontractor oversight.

  • Developing clear and defensible Conceptual Site Models for complex sites.

  • Conducts research and does investigation work as required.

  • Plans and organizes project studies.

  • Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.

  • Evaluating complex environmental data sets, including the use of modeling and statistics.

  • Preparing, work plans, and technical reports, and presentations for technical meetings with clients and regulators.

  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.

  • Actively communicating with the technical team and Project Manager.

  • May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in geology or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • US Citizen/US Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in geology or related field;

  • Possess technical report writing skills; prepare and/or lead preparation of investigation reports;

  • Independent field work and leadership of field teams;

  • Ability to clearly communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, and clients during field activities;

  • First Aid/CPR certificate;

  • Participate and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition; and

  • Participate in project activity planning, and health and safety planning and oversight.

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $82,000.00.
