AECOM Senior Ecologist in Cincinnati, Ohio

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Ecologist for immediate employment to work in any one of the AECOM offices located in Ohio. The successful applicant will have significant experience in ecological assessment, permitting, and mitigation including for utility-scale electric transmission and oil and gas pipelines.

AECOM is seeking a dynamic individual, capable of conducting the below work with local knowledge of ecosystems; someone who works well with others and is comfortable in small or large groups; and who can skillfully and efficiently prepare high quality technical documentation/reports/permit packages.

Responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to:

  • Performing and managing multidisciplinary projects including to scope, schedule, and budget

  • Making recommendations on work methods, procedures, and innovations, and developing standard operating procedures

  • Developing high-quality proposals, documents, and deliverables and completing technical quality reviews

  • Assisting in developing and implementing business development strategy and plans, including for key utility clients

  • Serving as an advisor to clients and management

  • Performing client visits and field activities and attending meetings with regulatory agencies that require work outside the office and overnight travel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience

  • 10+ years of experience in ecology

  • Experience with utility-scale electric transmission and oil and gas providing ecological services, client engagement and development, and team building

  • Experience with selling, conducting, leading, and delivering environmental permitting services, including ability to manage projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface with clients

  • Demonstrated proposal writing skills, including competitive proposals

  • Knowledge of environmental permitting, NEPA, relevant environmental regulations and processes, and related environmental considerations

  • Experience with permitting processes, including wetland/waters permitting, mitigation, and restoration

  • Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment

  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written

  • Good working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work

  • Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects to scope, schedule, and budget

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

20+ years' experience preferred
