AECOM Siting/Environmental Scientist in Cincinnati, Ohio
AECOM’s Impact Assessment and Permitting (IAP) practice is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented mid-level Siting/Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Cincinnati, Ohio office. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary team-oriented environment. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while working with an excellent team comprised of a variety of staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas and electric utilities. The group primarily works on projects in Ohio and adjacent states as part of AECOM’s regional ecological group. There are opportunities to work on large scale projects or projects further afield than the typical project range if candidate is interested.
The position reports to Cincinnati, OH and teleworking may be considered. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM Siting and IAP specialists across the US. The position will provide analysis support for our core business in routing and siting, impact assessment, and analysis for high voltage electric transmission lines and substations. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assist senior staff in energy infrastructure routing and siting studies, including study segment and route alternative development and analysis and substation siting selection and analysis
Assist senior staff in the preparation of routing and siting applications for submittal to state public utility commissions in support of electric transmission projects
Assist in the preparation of Clean Water Act Permits, Section 401 and 404, or other permit applications
Assist senior staff in field reviews and investigations to determine suitable project site locations
Research local, state, and federal permitting requirements

2+ years F/T work experience with siting of electric transmission lines and substations and/or state/federal environmental assessment reporting .
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, ecology, natural resources, wetlands management, geology, other planning, geography, or an earth science-related field.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
Must be able to pass a background check
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products. Strong understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS) processes and capabilities.
Knowledge of relational database systems used in GIS
Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
Ohio experience preferred
Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Strong working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
Position may require field work and candidate must be able to travel.
Excellent and advanced writing skills.
Master’s degree in relevant field.
5+years industry experience.
Expertise in routing and siting approaches, processes, procedures, and best practices.
Thorough working knowledge of CWA, ESA, NHPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
Technical writing experience specifically with regard to authoring siting studies, and/or FERC resource reports, and/or NEPA analysis.
Travel is required for this position.
