AECOM Civil Engineer / Task Lead in Cleveland, Ohio

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced civil design engineer to work as an integral part of a growing civil and environmental engineering design team in the Cleveland, Ohio office on projects involving site/civil design, environmental infrastructure, water resources, dams, landfill design, stormwater infrastructure, waste impoundments, environmental, etc.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work as integral part of design team as lead engineer or task leader in the study, evaluation, design and implementation of civil/environmental infrastructure projects

  • Mentor junior staff in associated engineering assignments

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering evaluation and design tasks

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and supporting analysis of alternatives

  • Develop high-quality technical reports, design drawings, and specifications

  • Prepare engineer’s construction cost estimates and evaluate quantities

  • Prepare alternatives analyses and develop solutions for technical problems

  • Serve as a task leader managing technical aspects and design team for an overall project. Interface with clients as necessary to support the project

  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Oversee/manage subcontractors for project related field work or site inspections

  • Assist in preparation of proposals for new work, including scope development and level-of-effort estimating

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • 6 years of relevant experience

  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Ohio and/or other states with the ability to obtain an Ohio license within 6 months

  • Required to travel (up to 25%)

  • Valid driver’s License

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge in developing site/civil plans and drawings, including advanced experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D: Create Civil 3D surfaces & grading; process and evaluate raw survey data; create alignments, profiles, sections, and pipe networks

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • Strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, with a desire to work in a dynamic and fast pace deadline driven environment

  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients and coordinate among multi-disciplinary design teams

  • Demonstrate the ability to develop

  • Technical and design documents

  • Following client and local and/or

  • Federal code requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiar with standard engineering practices, construction, and operation techniques, principles, and procedures associated with industrial facilities

  • Familiar with federal and local construction and environmental permitting requirements
