AECOM Industrial Hygienist / Asbestos Inspector - NYC in Clifton, New Jersey

Job Summary

AECOM has a position for an Industrial Hygienist / Asbestos Inspector available in New York, NY or Clifton, NJ. The majority of the work will take place in the NYC metro region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Field sampling and chain-of-custody preparation

  • Generation of project daily logs and supporting documentation

  • Coordination with regulatory agencies, review of project specifications and drawings, data tabulation, and report preparation

With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Science

  • NY Asbestos Inspector license is required at the time of hire

  • 2+ years of relevant experience to include one or more of the following:

  • Asbestos consulting/abatement oversight

  • Industrial Hygiene Monitoring

  • Indoor Air Quality

  • Hazardous Materials Assessments

  • Due Diligence Assessments

  • Construction Safety Oversight

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position

  • This position involves some field work and therefore candidates must be willing and capable of working outside, sometimes in inclement weather, able to walk long distances and at times in uneven terrain or on construction/demolition sites

  • A valid US license is required, and a pre-employment motor vehicle record review will be conducted

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position may be required to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience is desired in one or more of these areas: Asbestos consulting/abatement oversight, Industrial Hygiene Monitoring, Indoor Air Quality, Hazardous Materials Assessments, Due Diligence Assessments, Construction Safety Oversight

  • 40-Hour HazWOPER preferred.

  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction or 10-hour Construction safety training desirable

  • NY Project Monitor license desirable.

  • NYC Asbestos Investigator desirable.
