AECOM Interior Designer V in Clifton, New Jersey

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Interior Designer V to be based in our Clifton, NJ Office. The role of an Interior Designer at AECOM is diverse and encompasses combining creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce sustainably focused, aesthetically powerful, functional, high-performing architectural solutions which align with and support clients' culture and values as well as business strategies and drivers. The Designer will be an integral part of the project team and the studio, working under the general supervision of a Senior Designer and/or Manager and in collaboration with peer designers and technical professionals.

The Designer's focus will include:

  • Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline leaders.

  • Under some supervision, may complete design assignments of moderate complexity.

  • Limited familiarity with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.

  • Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.

  • Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents.

  • Collaborative engagement with team and client in developing strategic vision and approach as well as qualitative and quantitative programming interviews and activities.

  • Participate in activities and presentations in all project phases from conceptual design and planning, through schematic design, design development, space planning, and construction documentation and implementation.

  • Participate in the selection, presentation, and documentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting.

  • Collaborate with required consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, contractors, and fabricators in developing and refining final solutions and products.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school, plus eight (8) years of relevant experience

  • Eight (8) years of professional interior design experience with a focus on corporate interiors

  • Advanced in Revit, SketchUp, 3D, and other modeling software programs

  • Advanced in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign a must)

  • Proficient MS Office Suite skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of professional interior design experience with a focus on corporate interiors

  • Strong knowledge of space planning, furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications as well as working knowledge of construction documents and procedures; building systems, and building code requirements

  • Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas and possess

  • Demonstrated ability to manage junior members of the studio
