AECOM Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer in Clifton, New Jersey
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer competent in all conventional aspects of Plumbing/Fire Protection engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard Mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
Responsibilities for this job include but are not limited to:
Assists in the design of projects from conception through construction for small and large projects
Prepares calculations, reports, and specifications
Provides a high level of technical leadership in plumbing and fire protection designs
Performs fire suppression system selection and prepare designs involving the design of automatic sprinkler standpipe, and fire pump systems, clean agent suppression systems.
Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works
Coordinates work with other disciplines; capable of directing, guiding, and quality review of one or more engineers or designers
Performs site visits
Attends client meetings to represent discipline on project
Responsible for interdisciplinary coordination and review
Responsible for collaboration and communication with project managers and discipline manager

Bachelor’s degree and minimum four (4) years of relevant work experience
Experience with Plumbing and Fire Protection design for new, existing and renovation Building Design
Registered Professional Engineer
Knowledge of and experience with high performance and sustainable building practices
Experience in leading teams of in-house and consultant staff
Excellent supervisory skills and ability to communicate with and motivate team members
Must be able to supervise staff on multiple projects, provide assertive management, technical leadership and support to team members, verify that all work is completed as planned and scheduled in compliance with client, and company quality assurance practices
Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
