Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer for the Highway Department in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The primary focus of the position will be highway/roadway design. Under the supervision of a Project Engineer, the appropriately qualified applicant will be part of a Design Team responsible for the design and/or planning of highway and roadway projects.

This position is expected to begin in early 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Builds analytic and design skills.

  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

  • Working within the Highway group on the planning and design of civil engineering projects including local roadways, highways, interstates, freight, transit, Multimodal, bike, pedestrian, drainage improvements and utility relocation and protection

  • Collaborating with design teams consisting of multidiscipline design engineers, technicians and planners

  • Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member and assist with tasks including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids

  • Following corporate quality procedures

  • Effectively communicating (written & oral) with peers

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • Engineer-in-Training certification or Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT or FE)

  • Relevant internship or professional work experience in support of transportation design

  • Experience with OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and InRoads software

  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range is $ 55,029 -$ 96,301 /annually (exempt).
