The Transportation Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Surface Water Project Manager for immediate employment in the Colorado Springs, CO office. Although the focus of this role is to primarily support transportation drainage and H&H work in Colorado Springs, this role will include frequent collaboration with our Greenwood Village, CO office and has the flexibility to allow working out of or alternating between both offices. The successful candidate will provide technical oversight, project management experience, and lead surface water modeling and design support efforts for stormwater and H&H projects. This position will also involve training, mentoring, and teaching less-experienced staff. The position will involve working on projects for the state, local municipalities, federal agencies, and private clients to conduct hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and civil design including complex modeling.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Serving as a project manager or task leader for surface water, H&H, and transportation projects.
Project Manager overseeing project financial metrics and work performed by multi-disciplinary teams.
Assisting with the marketing and proposal efforts for a variety of existing and new public and private clients.
Overseeing project design and analysis of hydraulic modeling, floodplain mapping, and a variety of transportation drainage and municipal stormwater projects. These include stormwater control facilities (including detention/retention ponds and open channels) and directing surface water modeling, mapping, and designing of stormwater and flood control structures; and stormwater collection systems
Delegate work, mentor, and supervise less experienced staff while managing projects of varying size and complexity.
Directing and reviewing documentation and calculations, and preparing engineering reports
Work with a team of hydraulic modeling professionals to manage technical tasks, complete quality assurance/quality control reviews, and prepare high quality work products including documentation of model development, calibration, results, and reports, including the application of engineering judgement.
Directing design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the MicroStation InRoads Storm and Sanitary and/or Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD MEP.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in surface water or related field
Professional Engineer registration required
8+ years of experience in surface water modeling and design
Exhibits in-depth knowledge of surface water modeling, planning and design projects and related technologies
Expertise with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SRH-2D), and plan set production design software (e.g. Microstation, Inroads Storm and Sanitary, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, StormCAD)
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
Demonstrated understanding of business development and proposal response process
Strong written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Ownership and accountability for quality deliverables
Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate the technical aspects of projects to a wide audience
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as exceptional organizational skills
Must possess a valid driver's license
Business development experience including client relations and proposal preparation
Good understanding of local and regional markets and able to support marketing effort in pursuing work for water and transportation projects
