Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Engineer II for immediate employment in the Columbia, SC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Completes diverse project tasks on water and wastewater projects

  • Independently prepares design calculations and reports

  • Prepares bench scale sampling plans

  • Independently conducts onsite process evaluations using standard bench scale testing equipment and laboratory meters

  • Manages project tasks including design, permitting and construction administration

  • Communicates project tasks between offices

  • Resolves issues or problems concerning conflicting design requirements, specifications and/or difficult coordination requirements

  • Makes technical presentations

  • Performs constructability reviews of designs

  • Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work as a part of a major project or small-moderate scope project

  • Plans and prepares or reviews technical specifications

  • Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments

  • Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs

  • Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience

  • High level of coordination and communication skills required

  • Client relation skills

  • Must possess a valid driver's license along with acceptable driving record

  • Have functional knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and scheduling within the Microsoft Office software

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering

  • Registered SC PE or ability to earn PE within 2 years

  • Proficient computer skills, including AutoCAD, WaterCAD, and other design / modeling software

  • Previous experience in the consulting industry is preferred

  • Laboratory experience and chemistry background is preferred
