Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a creative and experienced Business Development Lead based in Columbus, Ohio to deepen our Higher Education, Corporate Technology and Logistics, Healthcare, and Civic market sectors across Ohio. This person will be responsible for identifying and engaging with potential clients, creating and implementing marketing and sales strategies, coordinating with marketing staff, writing, and managing marketing materials in close collaboration with the Columbus office Managing Principal and other Ohio office leaders.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Identify opportunities and engage via phone, email and in-person

  • Sales & Client Meetings: Conduct joint business development calls with opportunities from initial contact, discovery up to an initial contract (i.e. Feasibility study)

  • Follow up to ensure opportunity progresses and client is satisfied

  • Manage marketing staff/tasks to effectively and efficiently respond to RFP’s. Priority opportunities will be from contact to contract.

  • Research and Open New Markets: Research, identify lists, build contacts, strategic alliances, build relationships and follow up in order to open new markets (i.e. Technology and Logistics, Higher Education, and Healthcare.)

  • Strategic and Business Development Planning: Jointly define sales & business objectives, create & assess strategies, develop plans, prioritize, and execute the business development tasks.

  • Opportunity Management: Manage and stay on track of all business opportunities within our Buildings + Places practice (including reporting).

  • Manage, mentor, and train current staff. Looking for someone who can also create a Business Development approach.

  • Organize business development activities into a formal process.

  • Align all brand practices and help mentor/develop Principals and Associate Principal’s business development capability.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience

  • Experience in A/E/C industry

  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • A/E/C industry experience in the following market sectors: Higher Education, Institutional, Corporate and Healthcare

  • Proven record of developing new Architecture/Engineering clients in the Ohio geography

  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
