Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Architectural Project Manager based in Columbus, OH to lead and execute interdisciplinary projects with a focus on Civic/Municipal, Science & Technology, and Higher Education projects in a highly collaborative and design-focused studio. The role will be responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and budget of projects across the project lifecycle - from conceptual studies to full design and construction administration. Responsible for planning and managing project staffing requirements, reporting project performance, and identifying and addressing scope creep, schedule, or quality issues to ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

  • Acting as a primary point of contact with the client

  • Manages a portfolio of clients with multiple projects.

  • Working with interdisciplinary technical leads in the coordinated successful execution of projects in design and construction

  • Reviewing and negotiating contracts and preparing fee proposals

  • Successfully developing strategy, mitigation efforts, proposals, contract review, and leading project teams to execute projects

  • Managing and leading all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using established processes and tools

  • Managing sub-consultant scope, fees, deliverables, and performance

  • Coordinating internal resources and third parties/subcontractors for the execution of projects

  • Ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within the scope, and within budget

  • Assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Developing and monitoring a detailed project plan to track progress and identify shortfalls in a timely manner

  • Managing changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs to minimize risk

  • Measuring project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Reporting and escalating to management as needed

  • Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

  • Performing risk management to minimize project risks

  • Maintaining project documentation control

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or B.Arch degree

  • Licensed architect with 15+ years of related experience in the industry

  • Leadership experience, including managing client expectations, multi-disciplinary teams, and meeting scope/schedule/budget

  • Detail-oriented, methodical, meticulous, process-oriented, yet open to change and motivated by innovation

  • Advanced knowledge of the architectural planning and design process, construction documentation, construction administration, and code requirements

  • Experience managing concurrent projects in various stages of development and managing multiple project types with an emphasis on design, sustainability, and innovation

  • Innovative problem solver with excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills and a proven ability to manage people and projects through strong demonstrated organizational skills

  • Revit and AutoCAD experience along with strong skills in the full suite of MS Office applications

  • Participate in selected marketing and business development opportunities in support of the sales team.

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and potential clients

  • Be a great collaborator and communicator
