Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Plumbing Designer to join our team in Columbus, Ohio.
The Senior Plumbing Designer will be capable of working independently and complete small and large project design requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading projects for new facilities and renovation, modernization and repurposing of existing buildings. The Senior Plumbing Designer must be well organized, able to demonstrate critical thinking, quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution.
Typical Responsibilities:
Be proficient in all aspects of plumbing systems design for projects of all sizes
Evaluate, select, apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and judgement based on experience to design plumbing systems in buildings using building information modeling.
Coordinate plumbing systems with other disciplines
Make major design decisions and recommendations with little input from senior staff
Be self motivated with strong work ethic
Take pride in and ownership of yo9ur work
Concisely express complex system solutions in very early design phases
Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files
Act as an adviser and review documents prepared by junior project team members
Assist with mentoring of junior staff
Attend project meetings, both internal and with clients
Assist in project quality control review
Review and approve shop drawings, respond to RFIs and other administrative tasks
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma
4+ years of relevant experience with plumbing systems design for buildings
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
6+ years of relevant experience with plumbing systems for buildings
AutoCAD and Revit experience
Licensed Professional Engineer
CPD Certification
Full understanding and ability to complete and coordinate project design assignments with the ability to review team member's work for quality and recognition of training requirements
Experience with building plumbing systems including but not limited to sanitary drainage and venting, domestic service water, domestic hot water and storm drainage systems
Experience with sustainable design and energy efficiency
Successfully performed the role of lead designer on various projects
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
Good interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
