Job Summary

Job Responsibilities:

Candidate will provide direct support to the NSWCDD H22 DDG-1000 Principle for Safety (PFS). Tasking will include the following:

  • Safety analysis of the DDG-1000 AN/SQQ-90 USW system.

  • Develop/Review DDG-1000 AN/SQQ-90 USW system Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Letter Data Packages (LDPs), Combined Hazard Analysis Reports (CHARs) and Waivers.

  • DDG-1000 AN/SQQ-90 USW system document review, system testing and meeting support

  • Direct customer interaction will be required.

  • Tracking safety issues.

  • Monitoring safety activities.

  • Scheduling and participation in safety reviews.

  • Providing technical review of Safety Plans, Safety Assessments, and analyses.

  • Ensure safety requirements are implemented and incorporated.

  • Monitoring relative programs to incorporate Lessons Learned.

  • Reviewing documentation such as but not limited to analyses, hazard worksheets, reports, test plans, engineering change proposals, and other safety related documents.

  • Providing relative information as necessary to ensure safe system integration.

Limited travel (1-2 days per month) may be required.

Location of work is AECOM Dahlgren office.

Minimum Requirements

Meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, or related scientific field or

  • 4 years of USW or relevant combat system experience or

  • US Naval operational experience in a combat systems rate at the E7 level or higher

In addition to the above, requires five (5) years of engineering experience with a Maritime major weapons control or command and control (C2) system including the following:

  • Experience related to the design, planning, analysis, research, testing or documentation of complex systems through the complete engineering life cycle.

  • Two (2) years of experience with Navy surface ship Undersea Warfare weapons control or C2 systems.

  • One (1) year of demonstrated expertise understanding and developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Interface Change Requests (ICR), Interface Design Specifications (IDS), Weapon Specifications (WS) and other system design/system integration documents.

  • Knowledge of weapon and combat system certification processes and requirements, specifically self-certification criteria for elements of the Aegis Warfare System

  • Good communication and analytical skills.

  • Active Secret Clearance.

  • Must be US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

Systems Engineering with experience working a Safety program.
