Candidate will fill the role of Principle For Safety (PFS) for NSWCDD H22 DDG-1000 Safety Team. Specifically, the individual will:
Develop initial safety program for DDG-1000 AN/SQQ-90 USW system.
Provide overall management of DDG-1000 USW safety program.
Coordinate schedules and preparation of safety documentation with DDG-1000 and H22 leadership to achieve Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) concurrence.
Develop/review Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Letter Data Packages (LDPs), Combined Hazard Analysis Reports (CHARs)and Waivers.

A Bachelor’s of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, OR US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher.
Ten (10) years of professional systems engineering experience with demonstrated operational understanding of support elements of Naval platforms, weapons systems or combat systems that are safety critical components covered under the systems safety program OR Ten (10) years of operational experience with support elements of Naval platforms, weapons systems or combat systems that are safety critical components covered under the systems safety program.
Experience as a recognized expert in systems safety engineering.
Ability to apply systems safety engineering techniques, theories, concepts and principles to naval platforms, weapons systems or combat systems.
Experience leading systems safety engineering activities such as integrated product teams, documentation reviews, design reviews, test events, technical briefs, technical data package development, and Flag level safety reviews.
Experience leading and advising on data gathering, testing, analyses and problem solving techniques necessary to execute systems safety engineering for documentation, hardware, software, environmental effects, and firmware.
Must be US Citizen.
Limited travel (1-2 days per month) will be required.
Active Secret Clearance.
Experience working as a PFS or working closely with someone in that role.
Experience achieving WSESRB concurrence.
